Has anyone else gotten this email? I’m thinking it may be a scam. Not sure. So far, so good.

I am atheletes manager from San Francisco but currently in Northern London grooming youngstars for clubs and future soccer challenges. One of my players that graduated from cocoaexpo soccer camp in Florida will be coming over to  Pizza Hut Park Soccer Complex,TX for showcase footage. We’ll need the service of a photographer that would take some snap shots in the course of the footage. We’ll need just 100 shots for the event .

The footage is going to last for just an hour from 10am which we would want you to take the 100shots in between this time.We are only interested in a pleasing images .The shots could be from any camera brand  but just a pleasing balanced images.
If you’re interested , get back to me ASAP.

Kindest Regards,

Critical Update!!!

Here is the most recent update, and yes, I can assure you that this is a very much scamish. The key is that they will send me more money then is enough for my services, and I am to send the extra to a 3rd party. What happens is that the money from them (check, money order, Paypal, whatever) is fraudulent. I will be instructed to quickly send the extra to the 3rd party before my bank figures out that the initial payment is bogus. My money-gram, wire transfer, Western Union transfer, ??? would be good, and they would have my money, but a few days later, when my bank figures out that their certified check to me is bad, I would have to pay for their bad “certified check”. Watch how it works…

“Thank you so much for the zeal to render an anticipated wonderful photography service to  us and we hope to have a satisfying service from you. This is to inform you that our most convenient way of making payment to you is via US Bank Drawn certified cashier’s check that will be delivered to you in your name.

However, this is also to inform you that the payment for the bookings/deposit of the photography and videography services for this event will be on a single check payment and you will be the receiver because we assumed you as the most important part to be settled first. We are taking the photography service booking as a first priority to this event, so you will be the one that will receive this payment and on deduction of your charged rate from this payment, you will then forward the balance left on the payment to other service party. We will be responsible for the taxes and cost of forwarding the balance to other services and we tend to compensate your effort with a good commission afterwards on completion of the service.

So, kindly re-confirm the name with which payment will be issued and the address it will be delivered.Waiting for the requested info’s from you as soon as possible ,so we
will be rest assured of your service booked and to conclude with other arrangements.”

If you get an email that looks anything like this, do yourself a favor and just delete the email. Do not cash their check, and most of all, do not pass along the extra money to their 3rd party person. The photo assignment doesn’t exist.

These come in the form of local, and out of town, and even out of country photo assignments like weddings, parties, etc.

Got another one: Scam for wedding photographers. Don’t book this wedding, or send any money to their accomplice.
